Summer Camp 2022


Children ages 6-12 have great fun as they develop their artistic skills at Anhinga Clay Studios! Under the guidance of experienced art teachers, children learn about art throughout history while working with a variety of media, including painting, drawing, sculpture, pottery, ceramics and mixed media.  Six, one-week sessions are offered during the summer, held Monday – Friday, 8:30 am – 3:30 pm. Space is limited, so sign up now! All materials are included in price. Meals are not included.

Summer Camp 2022

June 13 – 17: Clay Week 1– Students will explore working in clay.  We will learn to design and create a teapot and tea set using hand building and throwing techniques.

June 20 – 24: Art and Music – Students will learn about different artists whose artworks were influenced by various types of music.  From Kandinsky to Peter Max, and classical to pop, multiple art making techniques will be explored.

June 27 – July 1: Folk Art Week – The students will explore various techniques and learn about folk art’s influence in art history and industry. We will sculpt, paint, draw and paper mache’ by exploring symbolism, clay jugs, sewing, dream catchers, broom/brush making and the like.

July 4 – July 8: Clay Week 2 – Students will explore working in clay.  We will create a variety of projects using hand building and throwing techniques to make art for the outdoors. From bird feeders to gnome doors, we’ll sure have fun.

July 11 – 15: Illusionary Art – We will learn about and create works of art based on artistic illusion and the fun it creates for our perception! Exploring traditional perspective to op art, using elements of art and principles of design, this week will be both challenging and delightful.

July 18 – 22: Alligators to Zebras: Animal Illustrations through the Ages – We will have fun exploring the theme of animals and how their symbols and meanings have changed throughout the centuries. We will create our own animal designs by way of clay, drawing, painting, sculpting and printing.
