General Studio Rules:
Please….
- Bring your own apron and tools
- Do not touch other people’s work on the shelves
- You have access to the main studio and new studio only during open studio times, if a class is in session in the main space, please do not use that studio.
- Tools, glaze and equipment are for everyone, clean up after yourself
- Minimize the clay that goes into the sink, place scrap clay and slop in appropriate buckets
- Clean up around your wheel and any clay on the floor in your area including tables, clean with sponges, not paper towels
- Use good judgement when using glazes, do not waste or contaminate them
- Only our glazes may be used in the studio unless previously approved by Gus Miranda.
- Only clay from the studio may be used in our kilns, no outside clay or work from home permitted
- Clean up on time, clean up should start 20 minutes before class ends, not at ending time
- Firing fees are calculated per bag of clay given or sold in a class, any re-fired work will be charged extra
- Any work exceeding our kiln load in height or width will be charged extra
- Do not take boards or bats home, they are property of the studio
- Work placed for firing should be marked, cleaned and bottoms should be wiped, otherwise they will not be fired
- Any improperly glazed work will not be fired
- You are responsible for any damages caused by your glaze work and will be charged accordingly
- $5 for glaze drips that only pull up small amounts of the kiln wash
- $10 for larger drips and multiple drips where a grinder is needed
- $50 for the replacement of a shelf if the entire piece sticks to a shelf and the glaze permeates the shelf beyond the kiln wash
- Missed classes will not be made up.
- No guest allowed, studio is only for class participants
- No sanding inside the studio, must sand work outside, wear an approved mask
- We are a hobby studio, not a production studio, we do not have the space for it
