Teens ages 13 thorough 17 can further develop their artistic skills through various workshops at Anhinga Clay Studios! Under the guidance of experienced art teachers, they will immerse themselves each week with a specific art making medium. Sketchbook development, pottery, sculpture, drawing, and painting will be the weekly themes. Six, one week half day workshop sessions will be offered during the summer from 9:00 am – 12:00 pm. $160 a week per student.

Teen’s Summer Workshops 2022
June 13 – 17: Sketchbooks and Inspiration– Students will work in their sketchbooks and learn techniques of stretching their creativity to filling page after page. Students will explore drawing, collage, painting and finding inspiration looking at contemporary and historical artworks. Exploratory and experimental techniques will be encouraged.
June 20 – 24: Drawing– Students will explore various drawing and line techniques using different mediums. Using basic drawing techniques, students will be encouraged to explore those techniques in different formats.
June 27 – July 1: Pottery– Students will explore clay on and off the pottery wheel. Learning balance, patience and building skills through this tactile 3-D medium, we will create functional and aesthetic items. Ceramic artworks often take longer than one week for a process; therefore all creations will be complete and picked up 2 weeks after this class has ended.
July 4 – July 8: Sculpture! – Students will explore 3-D techniques including using armatures, paper, mixed media, assemblage and paper mache’. Historical and contemporary art forms will be discussed and used to challenge the students’ ideas.
July 11 – 15: Painting 1- Students will learn basics of working in water-based paint such as watercolors, tempera and gouache. Using elements of art and principles of design, students will select imagery personal to them and create various paintings both exploratory and realistic, all building their skills setting them up for success.
July 18 – 22: Painting 2– Students will learn basics of working in acrylic paints. Using elements of art and principles of design, students will select imagery personal to them and create various paintings both exploratory and realistic, all building their skills setting them up for success.
