Handbuiding Five Week Class

Anhinga Clay Studios is excited to offer a five-week hand-building course designed for anyone interested in exploring clay through expressive, sculptural, and functional forms.
In this workshop, you’ll learn foundational hand-building techniques—including pinching, coiling, and slab construction—to create a variety of vessels such as cups, plates, bowls, and more. We’ll also explore surface decoration, texture, and glazing to help you bring each piece to life.

This class meets for five consecutive days, giving you consistent time to develop skills, build confidence, and complete fully finished ceramic works. All pieces created during the course will be fired in our studio.

This workshop is ideal for beginners or anyone new to hand-building who wants a supportive, creative, and hands-on learning experience. Intermediates and advanced are welcome.

Class size is limited to just 8 participants to ensure personalized instruction and an intimate studio environment.

What’s Included:

• Select open-studio hours twice a week throughout the five week session.
• Use of studio equipment (please bring your own tools and apron; tool kits are available for $17 and aprons for $30).
• One 25 lb. bag of cone 6 clay, we fire cone 6 electric
• Studio glazes and firings for the included clay.

Refund & Cancellation Policy

• Full refunds are available with cancellation 72 hours before the first class.
  (Credit card fees—3.9%—are non-refundable; cash/check receives full refund.)
• Classes are not prorated and missed classes cannot be credited or made up.
• Cancellations or rescheduling requests made within 72 hours of the class start will not be honored.
• If fewer than 5 students enroll, we reserve the right to cancel the class and issue a full refund.
• Artwork must be picked up within 30 days of class completion; unclaimed pieces become property of the studio. No reminders will be sent.
