We’re excited to host Polo again at our new collaborative space, Casa Ferber, in Homestead, FL! Join us for a special experience led by one of Miami’s most talented and accomplished potters, Polo Ramírez, as he shares the rich traditions of his Peruvian heritage through clay. In this hands-on workshop, we’ll explore pit and smoke firing. You must bring 2 of your own bisque pots to this workshop (burnished is a plus).

Polo Ramírez is a Peruvian artist and potter, celebrated for promoting Chulucanas pottery on the global stage. Born near the ancient Vicús archaeological site in Piura, Peru, Polo learned the art of pottery from his family, mastering the traditional Rock and Paddle Technique. His work reflects the duality of life, blending rawness and beauty, and honors the legacy of pre-Columbian Vicús and Tallán cultures. Based in Miami, Polo shares his craft through workshops, exhibitions, and his book El Tata y el Chilalo (The Potter Bird), preserving the rich heritage of Peruvian pottery.”

The Workshop titled “Pit and Smoke Firing”
Workshop” is a 1-day event lasting approximately 8 hours. The workshop includes the following
activities:
● Introduction: Overview of the pit and smoke firing techniques
● Participant Activity: Participants will bring their own two bisque pots to add to the pit and smoke firing. You must have premade bisque pottery for this workshop, burnished pots are a plus. We will not be making any pottery that day, you must bring your own.

● Engobe Process Overview: Explanation and demonstration of the preparation of
natural engobes used to paint clay.
● Firing Process Overview: Explanation of the ceramic firing processes.
● Open Discussion: Q&A session to conclude the workshop.

General Class Refund and Cancellation Policy:

For a refund or reschedule, classes must be cancelled 48 hours prior to the start of the first class and they must be in writing to info@anhingaclaystudios.comAny cancellations or rescheduling after the 48 hours prior to the start of the class will not be honored.

Please arrive 10 minutes before your class starts. If you arrive 15 minutes after your class time, your class will be canceled and not refunded, since the instructor already completed the demonstration and it would not be fair to them or the other class participants to restart the demonstration.

If you are purchasing using a credit card the credit card fees for transaction will not be refunded 3.9%.  If you pay in cash, you get a full refund. For rescheduling you only get 1 change.

In very rare cases sometimes accidents happen in the kiln and if your pot does not survive, we have some of our own custom made pots to give you in exchange of your loss. No refunds or credits for loss of your pottery.

After two weeks, please come back to pick up your pottery.  We will not send any notice for pick up, just come back during business hours. Any pottery left after 60 days will not be kept.
