Students looking to build on their pottery skills while creating functional pieces for the home and garden will design and make a collection of ceramic planters created especially for orchids and succulents. Throughout this hands-on workshop, participants will work with both wheel-throwing and hand-building techniques while considering drainage, plant health, and creative design.
Students will explore a variety of planter forms, such as hanging and wall-mounted planters, tabletop designs, pedestal planters, and planters with attached or separate drainage dishes. Decorative surface techniques will also be incorporated throughout the workshop, giving students opportunities to add their own personal style through texture, carving, slips, and other surface treatments.
